Wimmer to head Boise Cabela’s, seeks 200 new employees

Cabela’s, which sells hunting, fishing and outdoor gear, has named Byron Wimmer as manager of its newest destination retail store in Boise.

The store is currently under construction and set to open late this summer. The 132,000-square-foot, large-format superstore is located in the Franklin Towne Plaza shopping center near the junction of I-184 and I-84 off the Franklin Road exit.

Cabela’s is planning to hire up to 200 employees. Wimmer is currently building his management team and began May 22 to hire as many as 200 associates from the surrounding area to staff the store.

Cabela’s employees must have outdoor knowledge and excellent retail and customer service skills. Wimmer is particularly looking for sales personnel with hunting, fishing and camping expertise and experience.

Wimmer attended and graduated from West Point U.S. Military Academy in 1994.&#160Upon graduation, he was commissioned as an attack helicopter pilot, completing his term of service as a captain in 2001. He was soon recruited by Home Depot to join its store leadership program and was quickly promoted to store manager in Redding, Calif., where he served prior to joining Cabela’s.

Inman picked as sales manager for Advantage Dental

Advantage Dental Plan has hired Kelly Inman as its new sales manager for the Idaho region.

Inman has a wealth of experience in both the health and insurance industries. Most recently, she worked for Blue Cross of Idaho. She has also worked on grant projects through The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, establishing four rural health clinics in Idaho. She graduated from BSU with a degree in marketing and management.

Inman will be working primarily out of Boise and traveling throughout the state. In her new role, she will be targeting group sales in Idaho.

Ray Frechette joins NAI Global Retail Council Board

Ray Frechette of NAI Kowallis & Mackey has recently joined the NAI Global Retail Council Board.

The Retail Council works to increase the volume of closed business and revenue, sharing relationships with retailers and sending an ever increasing volume of business throughout the world, said a press release.

The Council seeks to increase the knowledge base of NAI members, to constantly improve best practices and to expand the NAI Global Retail brand. The NAI Retail Council participates in industry conventions, education and works to improve industry standards and representation. Frechette was asked to become a board member because of his ten years of experience in commercial real estate, specializing in retail for the last seven years.

Hennessey to serve as St. Luke’s planned giving consultant

The board of directors and leadership team at St. Luke’s Regional Medical Center have selected Alice Hennessey, long-time community leader, to serve St. Luke’s Health Foundation as its planned giving consultant.

Her primary responsibilities will include building the planned giving program and growing an endowment fund that will assist St. Luke’s in its mission to improve the health of people in the region.

Hennessey’s previous careers have more than prepared her to make solid contributions to St. Luke’s Health Foundation. In 1958 she began her career at Boise Cascade, serving as secretary to the president. In 1971 she was elected corporate secretary, one of the first women corporate officers in Idaho and the nation. In 1996, she retired from Boise Cascade as a senior vice president with responsibility for human resources and corporate relations.

Three attorneys join AJH as associates

Anderson, Julian & Hull LLP, a Boise-based insurance defense firm, has announced that Stephanie N. Guyon, Davis F. VanderVelde and Charles C. Crafts have joined the firm as associates.

Guyon joined the firm in April. Previously, she was a deputy attorney general with the litigation division of the Idaho attorney general’s office. Her practice includes insurance defense, employment and education law.

VanderVelde earned his bachelor of arts degree in English from the University of Nevada Las Vegas in 1998, where he graduated cum laude. He then obtained his law degree magna cum laude from California Western School of Law in 2000. His practice includes general insurance defense, mold litigation, pharmaceutical litigation and products liability defense.

Crafts earned his bachelor of science degree in political science from ISU. In 2004, he earned his law degree from the University of Idaho College of Law. Prior to joining AJH, he worked as a deputy prosecuting attorney in Canyon County, handling complex felony cases such as vehicular manslaughter, aggravated battery and felony driving under the influence.
