Attorneys’ Service Awards handed out

Service awards are given each year at the Idaho State Bar’s Annual Meeting. The awards recognize attorneys who make a significant contribution to the legal profession through service to the Bar and their local communities. This year, the meeting was held in Sun Valley, and the 2006 Service Awards were presented July 20.
Receiving the awards were:
• R. Daniel Bowen, a senior partner in Bowen & Bailey, LLP, Boise. A member of the Bar Exam Committee for many years, Bowen reviews bar exam questions for applicants who didn’t pass. He is an insurance defense attorney.
• John J. “Jack” McMahon is a graduate of Harvard University Law School and has been a member of the Bar since 1977. During his law career, he has been an active volunteer for the Fourth District Bar Association, the Idaho State Bar, and the Idaho Supreme Court. He has worked many hours as a volunteer for the Bar.
• Lisa Mesler is a career law clerk to the Hon. Mikel H. Williams, U.S. District Court. She has been an active volunteer since she joined the Bar in 2001. She is a member of the Lawyer Assistance Program Committee and is serving a second term on the Professional Conduct Board.
• James J. Davis has a private practice in Boise. Since his admission to the Bar in 1978, he has served many hours as a volunteer. He was honored with a Service Award for his many contributions to the legal profession. He has served on the Editorial Advisory Board as an editor for The Advocate.
• Richard C. “Rick” Boardman, Perkins Coie, LLP, Boise, is a member of the Character and Fitness Committee of the Bar. He has served three terms since 1999. In 1994 and 2004, he was a recipient of the Idaho Law Foundation’s Pro Bono Awards for his work as a representative of Guardians ad Litem in Child Protective Act cases.
