Idaho Power Co. seeks regulatory approval of a sales agreement with Idaho Winds LLC, which plans to build a wind generation project six miles northwest of Glenns Ferry. The Idaho Public Utilities Commission will take comments through Feb. 9 on the proposed Alkali Wind Farm, to include 12 turbines. The president of Idaho Winds LLC is Rick Koebbe of Boise.

The maximum output of the project is 18 megawatts, but Idaho Winds will not generate more than 10 average megawatts on a monthly basis, the Commission said in a news release. Energy delivered in excess of that amount may be accepted, but Idaho Power will not be obligated to pay for it. Operations are expected to start by the end of this year. The project qualifies under the federal Public Utility Regulatory Policies Act passed by Congress during the energy crisis of the late 1970s. The law requires electric utilities to offer to buy power produced by small power producers or co-generators who obtain qualified status. Parties wishing to submit comments by Feb. 9 can do so via e-mail at www.puc.idaho.gov, by mail at P.O. Box 83720, Boise, ID 83720-0074 or by fax at 334-3762.

You’ve groomed a solid core of good leaders who are trusted, share common values, are committed to the firm’s long-term success and are at least two generations deep. You’ve gradually expanded ownership of [...]
