Great Western Barbecue Supply LLC (1-10 employees) and McMillen Engineering & Construction LLC (11-100 employees) are Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce Small Business of the Year Award winners, the chamber announced June 11. All About You Dental owner Dr. Taylor Clark is Young Entrepreneur of the Year.

An awards luncheon is slated at noon June 25 at Boise Centre on the Grove. For more information call 472-5200 or click here.

Sherman and Anne Leibow own Great Western Barbecue Supply, which distributes residential and commercial outdoor smoker grills that use wood pellets. The company serves 215 independent retailers including 18 in the Treasure Valley. It operates warehouses in Boise, Salt Lake City and Spokane.

Mara and Mort McMillen own McMillen Engineering & Construction LLC, which is based in Boise and operates offices in Walla Walla and Coeur d’Alene. The firm offers engineering, environmental and natural resources, and construction services.

Clark not only built the All About You Dental practice from scratch in 2002 but also used his entrepreneurial skills to become a dental consultant, author, educator, and motivational speaker, the chamber said. In 2006, he started the Assist to Succeed school that offers accelerated, nontraditional and lower-cost training for dental assistants. Assist to Succeed dental training has expanded into 20 dental offices nationwide, including six in Idaho.

Award criteria included staying power, growth in number of employees, increase in sales and / or unit volume, innovation in products or services, response to adversity, and company contributions to aid community-oriented projects, the chamber said.

You’ve gradually expanded ownership of [...]
