The spirit of camaraderie, the chance to network with Idaho’s movers and shakers and the opportunity to share professional and personal achievements proved a compelling mix for attendees of the Idaho Business Review’s 2009 Idaho Accomplished Under 40 awards.

More than 350 people turned out June 23 for a celebratory dinner in downtown Boise honoring this year’s recipients. The annual awards program, held at the Boise Centre, was co-sponsored by University of Idaho, Sterling Savings Bank and Boise Young Professionals. Idaho Business Review publisher Sean Evans served as emcee.

“We had a wonderful turnout to honor this year’s inductees,” Evans said. “The honorees are an excellent cross-section of those making a difference in Idaho.”

Several previous Accomplished Under 40 awardees attended the event, including 2000 recipient Peter Oliver, a partner in Boise-based developer Brighton Corp. Oliver was a speaker at the awards dinner and one of nine alumni featured in the Idaho Accomplished Under 40 magazine, which published June 22 in the Idaho Business Review and includes profiles of all 40 of this year’s recipients.

This year, the program’s 10th, was the most competitive to date. More than 140 people across the state were nominated for the distinction. Judges, all former Accomplished Under 40 honorees, ranked applicants in the areas of professional accomplishments, leadership, community involvement and long-term goals.

Ben Quintana, founder and manager of Boise Young Professionals, said he was impressed by the event and caliber of honorees.

“Seriously, this program keeps getting better every year,” Quintana said. “BYP was proud to be a sponsor of the event and we hope to continue this partnership for years to come.”

“There’s an extreme amount of pride in this award and distinction,” said Courtney Robinson Feider, owner of Adrian + Sabine Sustainable Marketing in Boise and a recipient this year.

Feider said she enjoyed the networking aspect of the Accomplished Under 40 program and was pleasantly surprised to meet people at the awards event that she hadn’t realized were previous recipients.

“I’ve definitely connected to people I was not connected to before and reconnected with people who I didn’t realize had received the award,” she said. “There’s a deeper connection with people I knew professionally and already respected and a new connection with other distinguished professionals I had not previously known. It’s a very engaging group.”

Another of this year’s recipients, Abby Black of TitleOne Corp. in Eagle, said being among the Accomplished Under 40 honorees, has been a rewarding – and encouraging – experience.

“As the Idaho Accomplished Under 40 celebrates its 10th year, it continues to be a wonderful program,” Black said. “It recognizes hard-working, successful business professionals who demonstrate leadership skills and make a positive contribution to our society.”

The Affordable Care Act (the “Act”) and its companion legislation have received significant attention since they were signed into law by President Obama on March 23, 2010.  The fate of the Act now rests in the hands of the United States Supreme Court.  Commentators expect the court to hand down a decision in June. You’ve done everything right. You’ve adopted the concept of “perpetuity” so that the firm now thinks and plans for the long term. You’ve groomed a solid core of good leaders who are trusted, share common values, are committed to the firm’s long-term success and are at least two generations deep. You’ve gradually expanded ownership of [...]
