Idaho Falls-based Melaleuca has laid out plans for a $3.5 million, 38,000-square-foot manufacturing plant for its instant powdered drinks and distribution center.

CEO Frank VanderSloot said the new distribution center, to be built in Idaho Falls on I-15, means jobs for the region.

Melaleuca currently contracts with an out-of-state manufacturer to produce its products. The distribution center will then handle and fulfill all orders and shipping.

VanderSloot cites low building supply costs, construction prices for the construction.

When this plant is completed, company officials said all of Melaleuca's instant powder drinks will be manufactured in Idaho Falls and shipped around the world. It is expected to create 25 positions to start and within a few years, as many as 120 employees could be employed in manufacturing jobs.
