While the banking industry may be well founded in tradition, the same principals apply today as they did hundreds of years ago. Confidence in No. 1.

Cultivating that trust and earning the respect of a community has to be in the forefront when hiring employees. Washington Trust Bank has been working hard to preserve that confidence and cultivating it with its young professionals banking staff.

Retaining talent, they are committed to promoting from within, said Jeremy Parkinson, Boise branch manager. Bank officials understand team members are energized when they can be involved in organizations that are important to them. In addition, the training and mentoring offered at the bank encourages those they hire to stay and grow with the bank.

This is why Washington Trust’s Boise branch was most recently honored by the Boise Young Professionals as a great place to work.

“It’s meant a lot to the bank to receive this acknowledgment,” Parkinson said.

The Boise Young Professionals created the Next-Generation Best Place to Work Award to recognize a company that has shown, above and beyond, a level of commitment and support to the Young Professional population in the Boise community. The nominees of this award were evaluated on their involvement and support of BYP and their commitment to attracting, retaining, and developing young professionals.

“Washington Trust Bank’s continued support and dedication to young professionals within their company and throughout the community has made them this year’s recipient of the Next-Generation Best Place to Work,” said Ben Quintana, Director of Public Relations and Leadership Development, Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce. “They understand the importance of investing today for tomorrow’s workforce.”

Most business owners like the idea of being self-employed and, therefore, the “master of the universe.” But the downside of that dominion is that sometimes the business and/or its owner(s) may be liable in damages for its employees’ conduct even when it doesn’t occur directly “on the job” or with the business owner’s knowledge and [...]
