Projects bringing high technology to Idaho classrooms are eligible for funding through $75,000 in grants from the Qwest Foundation for Education.
Officials with the foundation said educators can apply for awards until Nov. 20, with funds disbursed early next year. This year marks the sixth annual round of grants.
“The Qwest Foundation for Education grants are an excellent way to get more technology in the classroom so Idaho teachers can engage students and prepare them to succeed in the 21st century,” state Idaho Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Luna.
Previous grants have gone to support initiatives including mobile computer labs in Idaho Falls and Salmon; robotics, rocketry and biofuels programs; and a graphic design project in Coeur d’Alene.
The grant program was started in 2003 following a statewide evaluation of technology in Idaho schools. Since then a total of $400,000 have been awarded by the foundation.
An application for grant monies is available online.
