Nampa city council members are considering a proposal that would allow residents to buy liquor by the drink on Sundays.

The Idaho Press-Tribune reports that several local businesses have pushed to eliminate the ban, saying local residents can already purchase liquor by the bottle in state-owned stores on Sunday.

Mayor Tom Dale has also supported a change, saying the restriction puts local businesses at a disadvantage.

The council could have a final vote on the proposed ordinance change in January.
