Hawley Troxell names two new partners
John Ashby and Kristin E. Bjorkman have become partners in the law firm of Hawley Troxell. Ashby, a member of the Litigation and Employment and Labor Groups, has practiced law at Hawley Troxell for over six years. Bjorkman is a member of the Real Estate and Banking Groups and has also practiced at the firm for over six years.
Ashby’s practice focuses on employment law and commercial litigation. He advises employers on labor and employment issues under state and federal law. Bjorkman’s practice focuses on real estate and commercial and real estate financing, including documenting loan originations and due diligence, while representing banks, financial institutions, and other institutional lenders.
Sokol joins law team at Farley Oberrecht
Slade D. Sokol recently joined the Boise law firm of Farley Oberrecht West Harwood & Burke as an associate attorney.
Sokol received his undergraduate degree in political science from Boise State University in 2003 before going to law school at the Michigan State University College of Law, where he graduated in the top 10 percent of his class in 2011. He is licensed to practice law in all Idaho courts, including the United States District Court for the District of Idaho.
RiskPoint adds Venice Fairbanks to staff
Venice Fairbanks has joined RiskPoint Insurance Advisors, a commercial insurance agency headquartered in Bend, Ore., as a principal based in Boise.
She has over 20 years of insurance industry experience. Serving clients in Oregon and Idaho, she works with all types and levels of businesses.
Fairbanks is a certified insurance service representative.
Alters joins IdahoPTV development staff
Boise resident and veteran fundraiser Kathe Alters has joined Idaho Public Television as a corporate business development officer.
Alters comes to IdahoPTV with 16 years of nonprofit fundraising experience. Most recently, she worked for Boise State Public Radio, where she served as corporate support manager for the last 11 years. A native of Idaho, Alters worked in various fundraising capacities in New York and San Francisco before returning to her home state in 1993.
Ronald McDonald House elects new board
The board of directors of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Idaho has elected two new members to be included on its 21-member statewide board.
Greg Janos, executive medical director of St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital, and Darren Kyle, McDonald’s owner/operator with Valley Food Service based in Twin Falls, began serving their three-year terms in January.
Board officers for the year are: Sarah Seidl, president, Seidl Home Co.; Anne-Marie Lodge, vice president, D.A. Davidson & Co; Cindy Martin, secretary, Hewlett-Packard; Sue Quint, treasurer, Quint Financial; and Keely E. Duke, past president, Duke, Scanlan & Hall.
Moscow mayor to chair national council again
Moscow mayor Nancy Chaney has been re-appointed to chair the National League of Cities’ 2012 University Communities Council. NLC President Ted Ellis, mayor of Bluffton, Ind., also appointed Chaney to the NLC Board Policy and Legislative Committee. Chaney has served on the NLC board of directors since election in November, and is president of the Association of Idaho Cities.
The University Communities Council is a group of elected officials from municipalities with universities or institutions of higher education within their borders or within adjacent municipalities. The National League of Cities is the nation’s oldest and largest organization devoted to strengthening and promoting cities as centers of opportunity, leadership and governance.
Hawley Troxell attorney receives TWIN Award
Hawley Troxell attorney Nicole Trammel Pantera has been awarded the Women’s and Children’s Alliance 19th Annual Tribute to Women and Industry (TWIN) Award. As a TWIN recipient, Pantera along with other honorees, will be recognized at an awards luncheon March 13 at the Boise Centre.
Pantera is a member of Hawley Troxell’s Public Finance Group, and her practice includes bonds, banking, public finance, municipal law and securities. She volunteers as a mentor to a refugee family through the Girls to Women program recently started by the International Rescue Committee.
Nunez selected as a 2012 TWIN honoree
Kelsey J. Nunez, an associate at Givens Pursley law firm, has been selected by the Women’s and Children’s Alliance as a 2012 Tribute to Women in Industry (TWIN) honoree. She will be honored at the TWIN awards ceremony March 13 at the Boise Centre.
Her practice emphasizes renewable energy and sustainability through land use, energy, and environmental and natural resources transactions and litigation.
