VA Medical Center hires chief of staff

The Boise VA Medical Center has appointed Dr. Teresa D. Boyd its new chief of staff, effective Nov. 13.

Boyd previously worked as physician and director of systems redesign at the VA Puget Sound Health Care System. Before that, she worked as chief medical officer for the largest primary clinic in the South Texas Veterans Health Care System, as chief of the emergency department at STVHCS and as deputy chief of staff at STVHCS. Prior to that, she worked as trauma director and medical director of the emergency medical service at Concho County Hospital in Eden, Texas.

Boyd earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Worth, Texas, in 1986. She completed an osteopathic medicine internship at Brighton Medical Center in Portland, Maine, in 1987. After her internship, she worked as a staff attending at the Brighton Medical Center until 1996.

Boyd is a diplomat of the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians. She holds System Wide Ongoing Assessment and Review Strategy consultant certification and Administrative Investigation Board certification. She participates in several organizations, including the American College of Healthcare Executives, American College of Physician Executives and Mensa.
