Boise State University hires directors in two departments

Larry Harmon

Boise State University has hired two employees in director positions.

Larry Harmon will be executive director for Internal Audit and Advisory Services. In this position, he will conduct an annual university-wide risk assessment, develop an annual and long-range audit plan, represent BSU to the Idaho State Board of Education Audit Committee, and make recommendations to university administrators.

Harmon most recently worked as vice president for internal audit and financial controls for Supervalu in Boise from 2006 to 2012. Before that, he was vice president for internal audit for Albertsons Inc. from 1999 to 2006. He was vice president for internal audit for American Stores Company in Salt Lake City from 1993 to 1999.

Harmon earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting, magna cum laude, from California State University-Hayward.

Michael Sumpter

Michael Sumpter will be director of Facilities, Operations and Maintenance effective Feb. 11. He joins the Division of Campus Planning and Facilities after working in Intercollegiate Athletics, where he was associate athletic director for facilities and operations. He has worked for BSU since 2006.

In his previous roles, Sumpter supervised facility and event management staff, managed large operational and maintenance budgets, and assisted in new facility construction. Before joining BSU, Sumpter worked in the athletics and event venue facilities and operations industry for private and higher education institutions.
