Joyce Broadsword will be the new north Idaho regional director for the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare, starting March 1. She fills the position vacated by Ron Beecher, who retires Feb. 28. Broadsword will resign from her position as a Bonner County commissioner.
As regional director, Broadsword will serve Idaho’s 10 northernmost counties and work on special tasks for DHW. She formerly served four Idaho Senate terms and was vice-chairwoman of the Senate Health and Welfare Committee. She also owns and operates a log home company in Ponderay with her brother, Phil McNearney.
