IBR honors 2009 Idaho Women of the Year

It was a night of inspiration.

More than 400 people turned out March 26 at the Boise Centre on the Grove to honor this year’s 50 recipients of the Idaho Business Review’s Idaho Women of the Year award. The program, co-sponsored by the University of Phoenix, Boys & Girls Clubs of Ada County and Perkins Coie, annually recognizes the contributions of women in Idaho making a difference in the professional and nonprofit worlds.
Honorees this year came from diverse fields ranging from law and politics to education, health care and journalism. A number of recipients were also heavily involved in volunteerism and/or operating organizations dedicated to helping others, including Interfaith Alliance of Idaho, Elkhorn Kid’s Camp, Susan G. Komen for the Cure and Camp River Run.
The University of Phoenix presented scholarships totaling up to $300,000 to six women and men affiliated with the Boys & Girls Clubs – Jacob Barrientos, Kimberely Border, Sarah Duvall, Barbara Nesbit, Julie Wilde and Tim Williams – who hope to use their education to follow in the footsteps of the awardees.
