Muggsy’s owners plan bistro in former Chef Lou’s space downtown

Mike McGuinness recently purchased the assets of Chef Lou’s at 8th Street, which closed in June at 409 S. 8th St. in downtown Boise’s BoDo development. Mike and Gabriela McGuinness aim to open 8th Street Bistro by Christmas in the 2,000-square-foot space.
They have owned Muggsy’s Sports Bar & Salsa Grill, 501 S. Main St., Meridian, for six years. They plan to offer the same menu at 8th Street Bistro, and add breakfast items, Mike McGuinness said.
They are considering keeping the downtown Boise restaurant open for extended hours on Friday and Saturday, he said. A staff of about 10 is anticipated.
The seller was Lou Aaron, who owns Westside Drive-In on State Street in Boise. A price was not disclosed.
