A bridge replacement project at the Garrity Interchange on I-84 will get a public airing Jan. 6, when the Idaho Transportation Department plans to host an open house in Nampa.
Set to take place from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Hampton Inn, 5750 E. Franklin Road, the event will feature displays on the planned construction, as well as provide information about traffic impacts and alternate routes.
ITD plans to begin removing the two bridges in early January 2010, and replace them with a single bridge accommodating three lanes in both directions. Work will also include reconstructing the interstate about a mile east of the interchange to tie into widening of I-84 between the Garrity and Meridian interchanges, and removing bridge piers on the roadway at Garrity Boulevard, according to a release.
The project, which is funded by Grant Anticipation Revenue Vehicle bonds, is expected to be complete in the summer of 2011. Until then, construction will affect traffic on Garrity Boulevard/Idaho Center Boulevard and I-84 near the interchange.
