The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality recently received an application from Agrium’s Conda phosphate operations, northeast of Soda Springs, to modify Agrium’s air quality permit to construct. The permit regulates emissions from the facility.
The permit modification would allow the company to replace an absorbing tower at its east sulfuric acid plant with newer technology. Emissions would remain within legal limits, the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) said in a release.
A 30-day public comment period on the proposed permit will be provided if a written request is submitted to DEQ by 5 p.m. Mountain time Jan. 29. Requests for a comment period, and questions, can be processed on the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality Web site or directed to Fay Weber, Air Quality Division, DEQ State Office, 1410 N. Hilton, Boise, Idaho 83706. Weber can be contacted by e-mail at email@example.com.
