Idaho market research center begins layoffs

A marketing research company says it’s starting temporary layoffs at its Pocatello call center.
Mountain West Research Center announced the layoffs in a prepared statement, saying they were necessary because of the economic downturn. The company gathers data for market research organization and has a call center with about 50 employees in Pocatello.
The Idaho State Journal reports that some of the laid-off workers were told the company intends to retain about 20 employees.
Mountain West is an affiliate of the Utah-based Western Wats Center Inc., which was fined more than $550,000 last year following an investigation into child labor violations.
