Hoku Scientific, a materials science company focused on clean energy technologies, says it has officially changed its name to Hoku Corp.
“When we founded the company, the name Hoku Scientific reflected our core research-driven business developing innovative fuel-cell technology,” Dustin Shindo, chairman and CEO, stated in a release. “However, as our business has continued to evolve, we felt the name Hoku Corp. better reflected our strategic direction as a diversified, global clean energy company.”
The company plans to generally do business under the name Hoku, and as Hoku Solar and Hoku Materials for its photovoltaic systems installation and polysilicon businesses, respectively. Hoku Materials plans to manufacture, market, and sell polysilicon for the solar market from its plant currently under construction in Pocatello, Idaho.
