The American Society of Safety Engineers has awarded its small chapter of the year award to a branch in Boise.
About 100 occupational safety and health professionals – who work in the construction, industrial, mining, insurance, health care, government, oil and gas, fire protection, academic, human resources and other fields – are members of the ASSE’s Snake River Chapter, founded in 1976.
According to a press release, “The Snake River Chapter earned this national honor by consistently providing superior technical education sessions for its members, while reaching out to environmental, health and safety partners including city, state and federal officials, OSHA, EPA and fire and rescue professionals.”
The chapter also publishes a monthly local newsletter and a quarterly regional newsletter, along with maintaining a chapter Web site.
The group will receive the award at the annual ASSE Professional Development Conference in Baltimore, Md.
