Pioneer Federal building credit union in Meridian

Construction of a Pioneer Federal Credit Union is under way at 850 E. Fairview Ave., Meridian.

Sage Construction of Caldwell is the contractor and LRK Architects/Planners Inc., of Boise is the architect. Greg Brown, president and owner of Sage Construction, said grading and vegetation removal has already begun at the site and the concrete foundation will be poured next week.

Construction of the one-story, 4,505-square-foot building is expected to be completed in December. Brown called the design “pretty simple, consisting of a wood frame, stucco and rock exterior.” The appearance will also be similar to other branch locations in the Treasure Valley.

This is the sixth project Sage Construction has worked on with Pioneer Federal Credit Union. Sage was selected out of a pool of three companies who bid on the project. Total cost is expected at $514,000.

Pioneer Federal officials did not respond for a comment.

The City of Meridian confirmed a building permit for construction was filed on July 29.

Brown said he is excited about the project, calling this the toughest commercial construction market he’s seen in his 30 years of doing business.

“You are thrilled to death to get anything right now,” he said.
