Meridian couple indicted on mortgage fraud

A Meridian real estate agent has been indicted for her role in a scheme involving the short sale of a house in Eagle.

Paul and Melody Redondo are also accused of mortgage fraud. They are scheduled to be arraigned Nov. 1, the Idaho Statesman reports.

The Redondos were contestants on the NBC show Fear Factor in 2005. They say they are fighting the charges.

The FBI says Melody Redondo facilitated a $625,000 offer to buy a house with an outstanding $1.4 million loan, while being aware that person had higher offers on the house and planned to split the profits with Redondo. Both offers fell through.

Federal prosecutors say Paul and Melody Redondo fraudulently overstated income information on several mortgage applications in 2006, 2007 and 2008.
