Idaho cheese factory to expand next year

The Jerome Cheese Co. plans to create up to 20 new jobs with the expansion of its factory in south-central Idaho next year.

The company says addition to the Jerome plant, which churns out about 520,000 pounds of American cheese each day, is expected to begin mozzarella production early next summer.

The company is a division of Davisco Foods International Inc.

Davisco cheese operations director Troy Ammann says the expansion of the Idaho factory was prompted by an increasing demand from the company’s West Coast customers.
