US Bancorp Foundation gives $8,500 Finally Home! Homebuyer Education Program

US Bancorp Foundation recently contributed $8,500 to the Finally Home! Homebuyer Education Program administered by the Idaho Partners for Home Buyer Education, Inc. (IPHBE, Inc.). US Bancorp has contributed on an annual basis since the program’s inception.

“US Bank is committed to helping all of our fellow Idahoans achieve the ultimate American Dream of homeownership. The Finally Home! program is a very important step in reaching that goal,” said Eric Bouchard, vice president, US Bank Home Mortgage.

These funds will be used to assist Finally Home! with its operating expenses, such as reimbursement of the training partners, as well as costs of printing and distribution of the homebuyer education textbooks statewide.

“US Bancorp Foundation’s contribution has helped us educate more first-time homebuyers across Idaho, which is especially important in today’s economy,” said Heather Harrison, Finally Home! Homebuyer Education/Counseling Administrator. “Their participation in the Finally Home!® program contributes to our success and helps potential homeowners across the state.”

CRA data shows Wells Fargo as top small business lender in Idaho

Wells Fargo & Company, America’s No. 1 small business lender, recently announced for the eighth year in a row it is America’s and Idaho’s No. 1 small business lender across three major Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) categories for 2009: 1) loans under $100,000; 2) loans under $100,000 in low- and moderate-income neighborhoods; and 3) total business lending under $1 million.

Wells Fargo loaned more than $381 million in 2009 to Idaho small business owners (loans under $1 million), which includes $219 million in loans under $100,000, according to the latest CRA data. CRA measures small business lending based on loan originations, providing the industry’s most comprehensive set of small business lending figures.

“We’re pleased to be the leading small business lender in Idaho again this year and remain committed to helping our customers access resources and capital critical to the financial health of their businesses,” said Dana Reddington, Idaho region president. “We know today’s economy is challenging for our state’s small business. Our priority, as always, is to help our customers succeed financially.”

Wells Fargo is also the nation’s No.1 Small Business Administration (SBA) lender in dollars, extending two times as many dollars as its nearest competitor. The company’s SBA-guaranteed loans provided $871 million in financing to businesses nationwide, an increase of five percent from the previous year. Further, Wells Fargo is the No.1 SBA lender in dollars in 13 states, and the No.1 SBA lender in both dollars and units in three states. In Idaho, Wells Fargo was the No. 5 SBA lender originating $7.7 million in SBA loans.

Grand reopening of newly renovated Galway Apartments on Nov. 16

Nampa residents are benefiting from newly rehabilitated affordable housing at Galway Apartments. Tomlinson & Associates is celebrating the grand reopening of this 56-unit complex with an open house from 3 to 8 p.m.  Nov. 16 on site at Galway Apartments, 2201 W. Karcher Road. A ribbon cutting will be at 3 p.m., followed by tours of the units and the new clubhouse throughout the afternoon and evening.

Rehabilitation of the development, formerly known as Claremont Apartments, began in May 2010. Renovations included the addition of forced air heating and cooling, increasing units’ energy efficiency by adding insulation, new doors, windows, and upgrading lighting and appliances. Three units were made handicapped accessible, and ramps, sidewalks, and accessible carports and garages were added to increase overall accessibility in the development. It is now easier for residents to walk to retailers nearby with the addition of new sidewalks. Washers, dryers, and microwave range hoods were added to every unit during the renovation, as was additional access to cable and satellite systems. Residents benefit from a new clubhouse, an office with a fitness center, and a new playground, as well as carports and storage lockers for each unit and a covered bicycle storage area.

“Residents are thrilled with the renovations,” said Jim Tomlinson of Tomlinson & Associates. “The new amenities are a welcome addition to these centrally located affordable apartments.”
