Linen Building donates more than $22,000 in 2010

The Linen Building, 1402 W. Grove St. in downtown Boise’s Linen District, donated more than $22,000 to Treasure Valley nonprofits, charitable organizations and start-up businesses in 2010.

The $22,550 in donations came through cash, in-kind donations and charitable contributions.

Through the monthly Linen Building Sunday Market alone, the Linen Building donated cash to the following nonprofits: Treasure Valley Institute for Children’s Arts (TrICA), Boise Community Radio, Treasure Valley Family YMCA, Boise Bicycle Project, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwest Idaho, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Ada County, Ride for Joy, Camp River Run, Merina Healing Arts Foundation, Project Patch and Boise Rescue Mission.

“Since purchasing the Linen Building, it has been my objective to use the facility as a vehicle for helping the community in various ways,” said Linen Building owner David Hale.

Boiseans’ gift supports Concordia University expansion

Concordia University in Portland received another million dollar gift from Boise philanthropist, business and civic leader George White and his wife Geri.

The gift supports the university and the development of Concordia’s future law school in Boise. In recognition of this support, Concordia will name its new law library the “George R. White Law Library” upon the facility’s completion and opening at 501 Front Street in downtown Boise. The renovated building will seek LEED gold certification through the U.S. Green Building Council.

George and Geri White reside in Boise, where he is founder and president of National Bark Sales. He joined Concordia University’s board of regents in 1992, serving on numerous committees and task forces, and served as chair of the regents during a critical transitional period for the university.
