Century West Engineering Corp. recently opened an office at 1110 W. Park Place, Suite 303, Coeur d’Alene. Civil engineer Ken Nichols heads the office as senior project manager.
Century West designs and manages civil infrastructure projects such as street and sidewalk improvements, storm water and sewage treatment facilities, and airport grounds. Its aviation services include airport master planning as well as design and construction of runways, taxiways, lighting and other navigation aids.
Century West sees a need for its services in north Idaho, he said. Growth will depend on the amount of work contracted, but the one-person office in Coeur d’Alene is expected to add two to four employees over the next three years, Nichols said.
Employees from the five Century West offices can travel to project sites as needed, he said. Century West employs about 50 overall at offices in Bend – where it was founded – Ellensburg, Spokane, Coeur d’Alene, and the Portland headquarters.
Nichols’ experience includes many airport and municipal projects. He worked in Boise for 12 years before moving to Coeur d’Alene in 2003.
