Boise Mayor David Bieter has named Doug Holloway the new director of the Department of Parks and Recreation. Holloway, a longtime city employee, has been serving as interim director since former director Jim Hall retired in July.
Holloway most recently worked as superintendent of Parks and Recreation, and has worked for the department for 11 years. Before working for the city, Holloway worked in the health and fitness industry, at Micron Technology, at Kelly Services staffing company, and as director for the Payette County Recreation District. He also served on the Boise City Parks and Recreation Commission from 1995 to 1999.
Holloway earned his bachelor’s degree in physical education from Boise State University. His selection as director, following a nationwide search, requires City Council approval. The council will consider the appointment at its meeting Oct. 23.
