U of I names interim agriculture dean

The University of Idaho has named John Foltz interim dean of the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences. He succeeds John Hammel, who rejoined the faculty after serving as dean for more than nine years.

Foltz has worked as associated dean and director of academic programs for the college since 2004. He joined U of I in 1991 as an assistant professor in the Department of Agricultural Economics and Rural Sociology.

Foltz earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Ohio State University, and his doctorate in agricultural economics from Purdue University. He is on the national advisory committee of the National Agricultural Statistics Service for the U.S. Department of Agriculture. He is an eight-time recipient of U of I’s Alumni Association Award for Faculty Excellence.
