The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics has recognized Ruth Schneider, an associate professor and clinical coordinator at Idaho State University-Meridian, for outstanding leadership, mentoring and teaching in ISU’s dietetic internship program.

The academy, the world’s largest organization of food and nutrition professionals, gave Schneider the Dietetic Internship Educator Award for Area One at a regional meeting in Asilomar, Calif. Area One includes Alaska, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington and Wyoming. Schneider will be recognized in the September issue of the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

Schneider has been teaching at ISU since 2001. In 2010, the Idaho Dietetic Association named her Outstanding Dietitian of the Year for her efforts to fight hunger in Idaho. In 2011, Idaho Business Review named her a Health Care Hero Educator.
