Risch appoints state director

Republican Sen. Jim Risch has appointed Mike Mathews his state director after Barbara Strickfaden retired from the position.

Mathews has been Risch’s Twin Falls regional director since January 2009 and is active in the local and state Republican Party. He will continue his work as regional director and will remain in Twin Falls.

Mathews earned his Bachelor of Arts in political science from Boise State University.

Kari Emond, constituent services representative in Risch’s Twin Falls office, also assumes the duties of deputy regional director. She will assist Mathews as he represents Risch at meetings and events in the Magic Valley.
