Richard Ardinger honored for professional achievement

Idaho Humanities Council Executive Director Richard Ardinger will receive a 2013 ISU Professional Achievement Award at Idaho State University Commencement exercises May 11.

Ardinger, of Boise, is representing the College of Arts and Letters, Fine Arts and Humanities.

Professional Achievement Award recipients are alumni who have made important contributions to their careers or profession and to the social, political or economic well-being of the world around them.

Ardinger, a former magazine editor, served as the Idaho Humanities Council assistant director from 1991 to 1996 before becoming executive director in 1996.

He holds a master’s degree in English from Idaho State University. He is the author of several collections of poetry and the editor of several anthologies, including “Where the Morning Light’s Still Blue: Personal Essays about Idaho.”
