U of I professor wins national award

Dennis Scarnecchia, a professor in University of Idaho’s College of Natural Resources’ Department of Fish and Wildlife Science, has received the Fisheries Management Section’s Award of Excellence from the American Fisheries Societies.

Scarnecchia has been with the department since 1990 and has maintained a research program on prehistoric fish since that time. He has worked for the conservation of Endangered Species Act-listed salmonids in the Columbia River Basin for nearly 30 years. He recently served on the Independent Scientific Advisory Board recommended by the National Academy of Sciences, which provides input to fish conservation, management and research in the Pacific Northwest.
