Good Works: Smith’s goes pink to support breast cancer awareness

Smith’s Food & Drug Stores, in partnership with Kroger and key suppliers, has committed $150,000 in donations for local breast cancer initiatives to support National Breast Cancer Awareness month in October. Most of the contributions will be given to chapters of the American Cancer Society or the Susan G Komen Foundation offices in states with Smith’s stores.

This is the seventh year Smith’s has supported women’s health through its Giving Hope a Hand in-store sales initiative.

The campaign features the personal stories of 21 Kroger associates, all breast cancer survivors, on custom pink packages of national and Kroger corporate brand products sold exclusively in Kroger stores across the country including Smith’s.

Smith’s has donated $10,000 to the Idaho Chapter of the American Cancer Society. Smith’s requests that this money be used for the ACS Quality of Life programs that aid women who are undergoing cancer treatments with wigs, prostheses, nutritional care or transportation, as well as ongoing breast cancer research.
