Boise Fire Fighters Local 149 distributed 252 new, American-made coats to six elementary schools on Nov. 20, including Taft, Whittier, Whitney, Jefferson, Morley-Nelson and Lowell.

BFF Local 149 has been fundraising since May to reach the goal of $8,064. Members of Local 149 and local businesses have contributed money and time toward the cause. Local businesses that contributed are DiMartino Associates, Benefit Solutions Incorporated, Unico Properties, The Local Impact Zone, Delta Dental, Paul Davis Restoration, Dearmond Insurance, My Team Leaders, The Drink Waterfront Bar and Grill and Airgas.

The Fire Fighter Coats for Kids program is a collaboration between the International Association of Fire Fighters and Operation Warm. Local fire unions fundraise in their respective communities. Ninety-seven cents of every dollar raised then comes back to the communities where the money was raised in the form of new, American-made coats, produced by Goodwill Industries.
