Alaska Airlines will start a daily direct flight between the Boise Airport and Salt Lake City International Airport in June. The new route is part of expanded service to the Utah capitol for Alaska.
Delta Airlines’s hub has long dominated the Salt Lake City market, with multiple flights daily to Boise as well as regular service to Sun Valley, Twin Falls, Pocatello and Idaho Falls.
Alaska has targeted Delta this month, announcing four new routes in early December before announcing Boise and two other new flights, to Las Vegas and San Francisco, on Dec. 20. Delta has also announced plans for more new flights from Seattle, where Alaska is based.
Alaska Airlines also added a new route between Boise and San Diego in November.
