Red Cross hires disaster program manager

Gary Compton is disaster program manager for the Greater Idaho Chapter of the Red Cross’ western Idaho districts. In this role, Compton will manage the disaster program specialist in Lewiston and the volunteer staff in southwest Idaho.

Compton was a police officer in Idaho for 28 years, retiring from the Boise Police Department in January 2010. He held a variety of assignments, including emergency preparedness program manager.

Compton has attended numerous courses related to emergency preparedness, disaster response and incident command. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in management and organizational leadership from George Fox University in Oregon.
