Idaho Power awarded 32 “Powering Tomorrow Grants” to community initiatives throughout its Idaho and Oregon service area.
One school and seven nonprofits in Ada County were among this year’s winners. The grants, up to $1500 each, recognize innovative educational programs and community initiatives. The Ada County winners were: ArtFaire, Bogus Basin Outdoor Education, Genesis Service Dogs, Idaho Meth Project, Meridian Senior Center, Organization Assisting the Homeless Student, The Zone and Valley View Elementary.
More than 130 organizations applied for the grants via Idaho Power’s Facebook page. Facebook users were encouraged to vote for their favorites and more than 105,000 votes were cast. Winners were chosen by the number of votes they received, how many people they serve, how long the organization has been in existence and community need.
