More than 100 people representing the companies behind the top construction projects in Idaho attended an awards event presented by the Idaho Business Review at the Riverside Hotel July 24. Ranked by project dollar amounts, nine awards were presented to the general contractors and owners of the top three in each category: government, retail/office, and private.

“For 10 years, the Idaho Business Review has recognized the top construction projects in Idaho because they are significant bellwethers of the state’s overall economic health and growth,” said Brian Hunt, interim publisher and vice president of Idaho Business Review, and publisher and vice president of The Daily Journal of Commerce in Portland. “We applaud these projects for improving our infrastructure, creating jobs and increasing Idaho’s reputation as a forward-moving community.”

The projects honored totaled 40 and included only those with construction costs of more than $1 million that broke ground or were completed in 2013.

In addition to this year’s award winners, some of Idaho’s top construction projects spanning the past 10 years were recognized during the  ceremony, including: 2004’s Boise Airport Passenger Terminal and the Flying Wye; 2005’s Banner Bank building; Nampa Gateway Commercial Center in 2006; Steuckle Sky Center in 2007; 2009’s Idaho Capitol Renovation; the Twin Falls North Canyon Medical Center in 2010; in 2011 the Micron Building for the College of Business and Economics at Boise State University, and the first phase of the Village at Meridian; and Chobani’s Yogurt Factory, Scentsy Commons, Eighth and Main, and the second phase of the Village at Meridian in 2012.
