Experience, dedication, hard work, and excellence are words that might be used, one or two at a time, to describe some. Yet all of them, used in a single sentence, define the 2014 Idaho Business Review Leaders in Law. This is the second year of the program and 22 are being recognized, including one for a Lifetime Achievement Award.
A selection committee comprising honorees from 2013, the University of Idaho and the Idaho Business Review evaluated dozens of applicants. It was a challenging process, said committee member Wyatt Johnson of Angstman Johnson in Boise.
“Each of the potential candidates was exceptional. The task of narrowing the list was far more difficult than I imagined,” he said. “Everyone I considered deserves this recognition, whether they made the final list or not.”
Christine Neuhoff, vice president and chief legal officer for St. Luke’s Health System, was also one of the 2013 Leaders in Law and a member of the selection committee this year.
“The nominees for the Leaders in Law awards were outstanding representatives of the legal profession, making the selection process truly challenging,” she said. “The recipients exemplify professionalism and leadership, and have committed substantial time and energy to community and national organizations for the benefit of others. I feel honored to have had the opportunity to participate in this process.”
The list includes partners, associates, up-and-coming lawyers (in their first 10 years and on their way up), sole practitioners, in-house counsels, an educator, an unsung hero, and the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award.
“From support staff member to public servant, these legal professionals have shown they are exceptional,” said Brian Hunt, Idaho Business Review’s interim publisher.
An awards reception is slated for 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Nov. 20 in the Idaho Room in the Eighth and Main building in downtown Boise. A magazine featuring the Leaders in Law will be published with the Idaho Business Review Nov. 21. The University of Idaho is the presenting sponsor.
