Treasure Valley kart racers no longer have to order parts online.

Newly opened eKart Group, 3236 E Amity Road, offers just about anything a karter needs from chassis to tires to seats. About the only thing owner James O’Brien could think of that he does not carry are frames.

He said eKart is the only storefront kart supply shop on the I-84 corridor between  Richland, Wash. and Salt Lake City. O’Brien also said he is one of only a few dealers to carry all three top kart lines: Intrepid, OTK Kart and CRG.

Treasure Valley native O’Brien launched eKart as an online shop in August with the intention to have a storefront, too. Online sales have gone as far afield as Brazil and Florida, where O’Brien is a sponsor of the 10-race Florida Karting Championship series.

“The whole purpose of doing this for me is not just making money and raising a family,” O’Brien said. “It is to support the sport. My daughter races karts. She’s six. I’ve been karting for years.”

Local kart racers drive at the Glen Morgan Raceway in Star, operated by Snake River Karters. WARP Racing is building a half-mile paved track in Burley.
