Metro Meals on Wheels’ first March for Meals event drew around 400 walkers at Kleiner Park in Meridian on March 14. According to Meals on Wheels America, the event was one of the largest of its kind in the nation this year.

The walk was part of a month-long March for Meals national campaign highlighting the importance of the Meals on Wheels program as a solution for the issue of hunger among the senior citizen population in the United States.

Food Services of America donated $5 to Metro Meals on Wheels for each marching participant, a total of $2,000 or 400 meals for homebound senior citizens in Ada County.

Metro Meals on Wheels allows seniors to remain independent by delivering more than 800 meals each weekday.
