Reconstruction has started at the Broadway Park shopping center, where fire on Nov. 26 consumed six businesses at the middle of the shopping center at 2100 S. Broadway Ave.

Center owner Michael Matzek was issued a building permit Aug. 13 by Boise Planning & Development Services to rebuild the 10,362 square feet lost in the fire. Matzek estimated the project value at $500,000.

The scope of work includes new columns and beams, new roof framing and a new roof. Blue Ridge Construction is the general contractor.

The fire destroyed a state-owned liquor store, Wok King, Talk of the Town salon,  MC Nails, and the corporate office for 10 Domino’s Pizza restaurants in Boise. Smoke and water damaged other businesses such as the Mount Everest Momo Café and the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store.

Matzek did not respond to an interview request.
