Linwood Laughy to lead Advocates for the West board

Linwood Laughy and Borg HendricksonLinwood Laughy is the new board president of Advocates for the West. He replaces the organization’s founder Eric Younger.

A long-time resident of Idaho’s Clearwater Valley, Laughy has guided more than 5,000 heritage travelers in north-central Idaho as an outfitter and worked with Lindblad Expeditions and National Geographic. He co-authored Clearwater Country!: The Traveler’s Historical and Recreational Guide with his wife Borg Hendrickson and has been published in High Country News, among other periodicals.

The two co-founded Fighting Goliath – a group opposing the transportation of megaloads of refinery equipment destined for the Canadian oil fields, on Highway 12.

Laughy was a public school and university educator in Alaska; he is an honors graduate of Harvard College and holds a master’s and doctoral degree from the University of Montana.
