Monthly parking rates at the six downtown Boise garages owned by the Capital City Development Corp. will increase from 20 percent to 35 percent on Jan. 1.

The $100 monthly rate hasn’t changed since August 2008.

The CCDC Board of Commissioners on Dec. 14 approved a monthly rate increase to $135 at the Eastman and Capital Terrace garages and an increase to $120 at the Myrtle Street, City Centre, Grove Street and Boulevard garages.

Breaking it down per day for a typical weekday user, the parking cost would go from $5 per day to $6 and $6.75 per day, said Max Clark, CCDC’s parking and facilities director.

Hourly rates will remain the same $2.50 per hour after a free first hour, said Max Clark, CCDC’s parking and facilities director.

Clark told commissioners monthly parking slots in the garages are oversubscribed and only the Grove Street garages has monthly passes available, six of them. Otherwise, 1,603 monthly permits are in circulation for 1,250 stalls assigned to monthly parkers. He said many of the pass holders do not use their passes during the workday.
