Albertsons to purchase four Paul’s Market stores; other Paul’s will close

Albertsons croppedThe Boise-based Albertson’s Companies will buy and re-brand Paul’s Market stores in Homedale, Kuna, Boise and McCall.

Another three Paul’s Markets, in Caldwell, Mountain Home and Nampa, will close and Albertson’s will acquire those properties. Albertsons Intermountain Division operates 84 stores in Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Utah, Colorado, North Dakota and Nevada.

Paul’s Market opened its first store in 1955, said Stan and Steve Zatica, who own Paul’s Market.

“We know that the folks at Albertsons share our values and commitment to providing the best to our communities,” said the two in a prepared statement.  “We sincerely thank our communities for 60 years of shopping with us, and we look forward to watching how these stores evolve to serve their customers for the future.”

The deal is expected to close sometime in April, said a spokeswoman for Albertson’s. The comment declined to release any other details about the transaction.
