The background screening company Verified First moved its office from Caldwell to a 12,000-square-foot space in Meridian in January in search of more space for its growing workforce.
The company sells software that aggregates individual background information and filters it based on what employers are allowed to use to make hiring decisions in each state.
A large customer base for Verified First consists of companies that operate in more than one state, said Ryan Hart, Verified First director of operations.
“A lot of companies didn’t even know the information they were seeking was illegal,” Hart said. “For instance, in New Mexico you can use anything from an employee’s background, but in California you can only use background information from the last seven years to make hiring decisions.”
Verified First has hired 41 employees since January and now has 66. It plans to hire about 30 more by the end of the year. Most of its open positions are for telemarketers.
Verified First is growing in order to keep up with its customer list which has grown from 1,000 in November 2014 to about 3,000, Hart said.
The growth is not attributed to any new marketing effort or service offering, Hart said. The company’s growth has been consistent since it was formed in 2012, he said.
