Governor C.L. “Butch” Otter has reappointed Warren Bakes, Gary Mahn, and EFIB Vice Chairman Gavin Gee to new four-year terms on the The Idaho Endowment Fund Investment Board, ending in 2019.
Bakes, of Hayden, is a faculty member at the University of Idaho and served for 32 years as a teacher, principal and superintendent in Idaho schools. Mahn, of Boise, is a former director of the Idaho Department of Commerce. Otter first appointed Bakes and Mahn in 2012.
Gee, of Boise, is an attorney and the director of the Idaho Department of Finance. He is the longest-serving current EFIB member. He was first appointed to the board in 1995 by Gov. Phil Batt and subsequently reappointed by Gov. Dirk Kempthorne and Otter.
The EFIB is an agency of the State of Idaho that is responsible for managing about $2.5 billion of investments consisting of state land grant endowment funds, the financial assets of the State Insurance Fund, and endowments for the Department of Environmental Quality, the Department of Fish and Game, and the Department of Parks and Recreation. The EFIB also manages a Credit Enhancement Program for public school bonds. The EFIB has nine members appointed by the governor and subject to Senate confirmation.
