34th annual Idaho State Forestry Contest held in Careywood

More than 350 students participated in the 34th annual Idaho State Forestry Contest May 12. Contestants from 19 schools and a 4-H club traveled from towns across the state, including Clark Fork, Careywood, Deary, Coeur d’Alene, Craigmont, Culdesac, Genesee, Nezperce, Post Falls, Priest River, Sagle, Sandpoint, St. Maries, Timberline and Troy to participate in the contest, held at Delay Farms in Careywood, located between Coeur d’Alene and Sandpoint.

The Idaho State Forestry Contest, sponsored by the Idaho Department of Lands, Bonner Soil and Water Conservation District and the U.S. Forest Service, introduces students to basic forestry and resource management skills on three educational courses. More than 200 volunteers from local businesses, agencies and organizations donated their time to help run the contest.
