The Junior League of Boise has awarded school gardens to Desert Sage Elementary School and Hunter Elementary School.

The group built four raised garden beds at Desert Sage on April 22 and built eight raised garden beds at Hunter Elementary on April 30. Each school was also provided tools to maintain the gardens.

The Junior League worked with Boise Urban Garden School to offer each school curriculum. The program enhances educational opportunities in science curriculum while also providing elementary children access to fresh fruits and vegetables while teaching the importance of healthy eating. The nonprofit has also built gardens at Joplin Elementary, Cecil Andrus Elementary, and  Garfield Elementary.

Founded in 1928, the Junior League of Boise is an organization of women committed to promoting volunteerism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.
