Barbara Hocking named chief nursing officer at St. Luke’s Boise Medical Center

Barbara Hocking has been named chief nursing officer at St. Luke’s Boise Medical Center. As CNO, Hocking will provide nursing and patient care leadership, a role she has filled since February when she took on the interim CNO position. Hocking has 30 years of experience in patient care and administration. Before moving to Boise, she served as interim vice president of patient care services and CNO at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.

After earning her doctoral degree from Boston University, Hocking established a consulting firm focused on the perioperative arena and acute care nursing operations. She also holds a degree in nursing from Regis College/Mercy Hospital in Denver, a bachelor’s degree from Colorado Mesa University and a master’s degree and certificate in healthcare administration from University of Colorado. She also holds a certificate in healthcare ethics from Georgetown University.
